We Are Hiring Housekeepers!


General Summary

Under the direction of the Supervisor, the housekeeper performs various cleaning tasks as assigned to maintain a clean and sanitary environment. Housekeepers will perform essential cleaning functions in hospital building areas following established schedules and utilizing trained methods.

Essential (primary) Functions

Dusting surfaces, emptying waste baskets removes waste and relines basket. Damp wiping cleans all furniture. Cleaning and polishing metal and porcelain fixtures in bathroom. Mopping and sanitizing floors of rooms and offices. Spot cleaning walls and windows. Replenishing room supplies, performs discharge cleaning as assigned. Vacuuming carpets, spot cleans as needed. Sorting and distributing linen as assigned. Perform heavier cleaning functions in assigned areas. Dusting and wet mopping floors. Scrubbing and/or buffing floors with appropriate equipment. Vacuuming and shampooing carpets for cleaning and bacteria control with industrial vacuum. Stripping and refinishing hard surface floors. Attends mandatory hospital and department scheduled meetings/in-services.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide the highest quality of service to customers at all times
  • Sign in and out for your pager
  • Follow pager protocols
  • Follow Personal Protective Equipment procedures
  • Transporting of waste from dirty core
  • Cycle cleaning ceilings and walls
  • Measuring and mixing cleaning chemicals
  • Assists in cleaning emergency spills Reports customer suggestions/complaints to supervisor Cleans and sanitizes assigned work areaAttends mandatory hospital and department scheduled meetings/in-services. Adheres to specific hospital and department policies. May be assigned to other duties as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required

  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and follow verbal and written instructions in English
  • Able to operate phones and pagers
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills

Working Conditions

  • Potential exposure to sharp objects
  • Potential exposure to blood and body fluid
  • Walking on wet, greasy prone floors
  • Potential exposure to burns, cuts, slips, or falls
  • Operating different types of mechanical equipment
  • Exposure to continual exercise using body mechanics (Lifting, bending, climbing, pushing, pulling stretching, twisting, etc.)
  • Manual lifting of items up to 50lbs
  • Pushing of equipment
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Walking on patients’ units for extended periods of time
